01
Illustrating the cast
The script arrived written; the world didn't exist yet. I illustrated the character and her universe from scratch — her afro, her hoop earrings, her rooms, her phones — so the audience would see someone recognizable using the wallet, not an abstract UI.
02
Texture against flatness
Flat vector on a three-minute video gets sterile fast. Grain and brush texture on skin, hair, fabric and backgrounds give the frames warmth and depth — the detail your eye keeps discovering while the information sinks in.
03
Animating for clarity
Every movement carries meaning: a hand tilts the phone, a number snaps into place, a color sweeps across to end one tip and open the next. Motion is the punctuation of a video that can't say "and now, tip five".
04
The silent constraint
No voice-over over three minutes is the real challenge: the image has to hold attention alone. I worked it with pacing — short beats, big numbers, palette changes as chapter marks — so nothing feels long, even when it is.
