Exercise · Layer Lemonade challenge
A 30-second animation challenge by Layer Lemonade, built to practice technique, style and scene transitions. Not a client project and not my concept — the artwork came with the brief. What I brought was the movement.
Frames
Classical statues, cut-out mountains, traffic lights, transparency checkerboards, neon overpasses — each sequence lives in its own world, and the whole trick is getting from one to the next without breaking the spell.

Process
01
The visual world came ready: a vaporwave collage of statues, rocks, grids and neon. Before animating a single frame, the job was understanding how those layers were built — and which of them could move without the illusion falling apart.
02
Individually, the animations are simple: drifts, scales, light pulses. The discipline is keeping them subtle enough that the composition stays the star, and precise enough that nothing feels accidental.
03
The real challenge sits between scenes. Each transition had to carry the viewer from one universe to a completely different one — matching motion, timing the reveal, hiding the seam. That's where most of the hours went.
04
Glows, grain, masks, checkerboard reveals: layered effects that look effortless and are anything but. Getting them to hold up at every frame is the technical exam this exercise was designed to be.
Note to self
I didn't create anything here — I animated. And still, this was one of the hardest and most beautiful exercises I've finished.
It isn't perfect. There are plenty of things I'd fix. But crossing the finish line on this one was enormously satisfying — and that's exactly what an exercise is for.
